Jet Propulsion Laboratory, 4800 Oak Grove Dr, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011 - The Fiore Industries Security Police Officers working at Jet Propulsion Laboratory / NASA brought the fight to JPL / NASA / Fiore by announcing they were ready to go on STRIKE the week of November 11th.
Soon after this announcement both JPL / NASA / Fiore took the threat very seriously and both the Union and Fiore began immediate talks / negotiations over the weekend in both of our attempts to avoid a STRIKE the week of November 11, 2024. In the end the parties were successful in not only negotiating the highest wage increase these JPL / Fiore Security Police Officers have ever received a $8.60 cent wage increase retroactive to October 1, 2024 but we were also successful in negotiating a 7% wage increase in year two (2) and 9% in year three (3).
"The security police officers working at JPL NASA will now receive a wage increase of $8.60 cents per hour just in the first year of the contract and a total wage increase of 44% in just 3 years. This unprecedented wage increase is one of the highest wage increases our Union has ever negotiated on behalf of our members and/or in my history of negotiating Union contracts. As a matter of fact, I have never seen any union in any industry security or otherwise negotiate such a one-year wage increase of 27.2% and/or a 44% wage increase over 3 years. Wages: Present wage rate: $31.58
Wages Effective October 1, 2024: $40.17 (27% increase), Year 2 $43.17 (7% increase), Year 3 - $47.17 (9% increase). That’s a 44% aggregate increase just on wages! The $40.17 would apply back to 10/1/2024. Compare our negotiated wage increases to the previous unions negotiated wage increases below and you will clearly see that these JPL / NASA Fiore Security Police Officers made the right move in switching from their present security guard union to our law enforcement union.
Previous Paragon System CBA with their old Union.
H&W from $5.30 to $5.50, Effective October 1, 2024. Year 2- $5.60 – Year 3 - $5.70.
These contributions shall be paid out in cash to the employee.
Bringing the hourly rate to $45.47 per hour October 1, 2024 with their H&W included.
Acting Captain rate will be $50.00 per hour (plus H&W as applicable).
401k match at 6% (after completion of a minimum of a 1,000 hours
worked per year) plus a one-time contribution representing that
6% for the period covering the time such contributions were no
longer applicable to the predecessor union up to current with
interest, and to be calculated based on the predecessor
contract (language here to be cleaned up and formalized, including
a grace period during which the company will need to amend its
current 401k plan to allow for such a one-time contribution – not to
exceed three months, and an agreement between the company and
the union that all claims and issues arising out of this 401k issue
have been resolved and the union agrees to not file any unfair labor
charges related to this matter).
