Imperial, California 2/4/25 - The leaders of the 80 plus Centerra detention officers working at two separate U.S. Customs and Border Protection facilities in Imperial, California met with United Federation LEOS-PBA Organizing Director Steve Maritas as well as United Federation LEOS-PBA California regional director Anthony Rodriquez to discuss the National Labor Relation Board NLRB process of voting in the United Federation LEOS-PBA Law Enforcement Officers Security & Police Benevolent Association as their exclusive bargaining representative to negotiate with their company, Centerra a Constellis company.

During this meeting the leaders of both U.S. Customs and Border Protection facilities in Imperial, California discussed their ongoing grievances with the company Centerra and together our United Federation LEOS-PBA Union representatives explained how our Union through the negotiation process will be able to solve many of the ongoing issues presently taking place in addition to negotiating yearly wages, benefits and other conditions of employment.

In the end the Centerra detention officers guaranteed us that the 80 plus detention officers were 100% supportive of our union the United Federation LEOS-PBA Law Enforcement Officers Security & Police Benevolent Association.
A few weeks back another security Union SPiT-FA from Roseville, Michigan attempted to intervene in these elections by contacting the employer and requesting to know the locations of these facilities so they could attempt to intervene in these elections. The Employer Centerra refused to provide this information to SPiT-FA Vice President Ryan Kelly.
"Even if SPiT-FA was able to fool one of our detention officers into signing a membership card for them, I doubt that they would be able to muster one single vote once I expose our past history with them. We had SPiT-FA at one of our other detention facilities in California and we decertified them through an NLRB election after they made many promises and then failed to represent us" noted Centerra Detention Officer Avel Tolentino.

History and Area of Responsibility
The first Border Patrol Station at Calexico was established in 1939 with only six officers assigned for duty.
The Calexico Border Patrol Station is responsible for patrolling 37.1 linear miles of the border and 731 square miles of Imperial County in the Sonoran Desert. This area of responsibility includes the densely populated area of downtown Calexico, the New River, 27 miles along the All-American Canal, and a barely discernible line of uninhabited desert. Thus, the Calexico Station utilizes a variety of equipment and methods to accomplish its mission and be effective in such diverse terrain.
The current Calexico Station was officially opened on September 12, 1995. Due to the additions of personnel and continuing increases in illegal alien and narcotic traffic through the years, a new Station is in the works completed in 2012.

During the meeting the Centerra detention officers brought their NLRB ballots to the meeting to show the other Centerra detention officers on how to correctly fill out their ballots. Based on our majority status at both U.S. Custom and Border Facilities in Imperial California we are confident this will be a slam dunk and these Centerra detention officers will now become part of our 7,000 plus United Federation LEOS-PBA family.
The results of the first election will be known on February 11th followed by the second election.
