On August 18th 2023 the National Labor Relations Board NLRB made it ruling to certify the Paragon Systems, Inc Boston results of the June 5th 2023 NLRB election Case Number: 01-RC-309281 whereby our Union, United Federation LEOS-PBA defeated SPiT-FA once again in another NLRB election by a score of 36 to 18.
In this particular NLRB election SPiT-FA President David L. Hickey decided to challenge the results of this election by filing 2 frivolous objections to the election which were both overruled by the NLRB Regional Director of Region 1.
"Based on the foregoing, having considered Intervenor SPiT-FA's offer of proof in the light most favorable to them, I find their offer of proof is insufficient to warrant setting aside the election. I am, therefore, overruling Intervenor SPiT-FA’s objections in their entirety and hereby issue the following Certification of Representative based on the tally of ballots that previously issued at the conclusion of the election."

REGION 01
On March 15th, 2023 the Paragon System's Inc CBA had expired and up to the point of the August 18th 2023 date of the certification SPiT-FA had failed to go to the bargaining table to negotiate with Paragon Systems Inc a new wage increase for this coming October 1,st 2023 which had to be submitted to the Federal Government no later than August 31st, 2023.
Once our Union, United Federation LEOS-PBA was certified by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) our Union immediately contacted Paragon's General Counsel Laura Hagan to begin the process of collective bargaining prior to the August 31st deadline. Based on these negotiations our Union was successful in negotiating a two dollar and seventy three cent ($2.73) wage increase plus an additional $0.57 cent wage increase in their health & welfare from $4.00 an hour to $4.57 per hour, plus premium pay for Secret Posts from $0.75 cents to $1.50 an hour and premium pay for Top Secret Posts from $2.00 cents to $3.00 an hour. In total this was a 9% wage increase and the most significant wage increase these Boston Paragon PSO's have ever received from SPiT-FA and or their previous union. It should be noted that under SPiT-FA would negotiate $0.90 cent yearly wage increases and then use part of their H&W money as part of their raises claiming that they received a higher wage increase then what they actually negotiated.
"Under the New 3 year United Federation LEOS-PBA / Paragon Boston CBA these Boston PSO's will now receive the highest wage increase they have ever seen, a 11.8% total wage increase which amounts to a $2.73 cent wage increase come October 1st vs the typical $0.95 cent wage increases they were receiving under SPiT-FA as well as a $0.57 cent increase in their H&W for a total wage increase of three dollars & thirty cents ($3.30) wage increase." Noted United Federation LEOS-PBA President Charles Chip Strebeck.
In addition to the above we were successful In negotiating a number of other addition benefits and language changes. This includes:
Vacation Benefits: Upon completion of ten (10) years of service: you will now receive 160 hours vs. Upon completion of fifteen (15) years of service: 160 hours
Sick Leave: An employee with sick leave remaining on the books at the end of the October contract cycle shall receive the remaining benefit in cash vs. Any unused sick leave will roll over on an annual basis, to a maximum of 56 hours. It will not be paid in cash.
Travel Gasoline will be paid @ $4.00 per gallon vs $3.00 per gallon.
Additional language which includes Job Vacancies, Shift Bidding, Comfort Breaks, Donning and Doffing, Federal Government Shutdown & Health and Fitness exams just to name a few.
