3/29/2023 Atlanta Georgia the full-time and regular part-time Sergeants performing guard duties as defined in Section 9(b)(3) of the National Labor Relations Act, employed by Chenega Global Protection, LLC assigned to providing guard services for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) at a number of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) facilities in Atlanta Georgia have voted unanimously in favor of union representation by the United Federation LEOS-PBA Law Enforcement Officers Security & Police Benevolent Association on Wednesday March 29, 2023.
Prior to the mail ballot election the Employer Chenega Global Protection, LLC argued that the petitioned-for unit was inappropriate because the sergeants are supervisors under Section 2(11) of the National Labor Relations Act (Act).
However our Union, United Federation LEOS-PBA Law Enforcement Officers Security and Police Benevolent Association took a different position and went before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and argued its case in opposition to the Employers view and position. In the end the NLRB ruled in the Unions favor and ultimately ordered a direction of election. See below.
The Union was represented at the NLRB hearing by Jonathan Axelrod of Beins, Axelrod & Keating, P.C. 1717 K Street NW Suite 1120 Washington, DC 20006.
Charles Strebeck President of the United Federation LEOS-PBA Law Enforcement Officers Security & Police Benevolent Association noted "We were happy that the NLRB realized that these Chenega Global Protection, LLC Sergeants were actually lead officers vs 2/11 supervisors which would of prohibited them from unionizing under the NLRA. With the decision and direction election as well as the actual vote behind us, we can now focus our attention on negotiating the wages, benefits and working quotations these CDC / Chenega Global Protection, LLC Sergeants Deserve.
